A Birmingham man has been jailed for possessing a bomb-making video, which could have been used to create explosives similar to those used in past UK terror attacks. The 20-year-old, Adam Mahmood, was found guilty after a trial in September, despite denying the charge. He was sentenced to four years in a young offender institution, with an extended period of three years on license to protect the public. The video, a detailed guide on producing explosives with a detonator and shrapnel, was sent to Mahmood by a TikTok user. He claimed to have watched it on fast-forward and skipped parts, but the judge noted that the visuals and subtitles clearly indicated its nature. Additionally, police discovered an alarming collection of medieval weapons in Mahmood's bedroom, including swords, knives, an axe, and a catapult, which he linked to his interest in Islamic history. While there was no evidence of an imminent terrorist act, the judge emphasized that Mahmood's possession of the video and the weapons suggested a potential for harm. He stated, 'You had terrorist motivations. The presence of such an arsenal in the bedroom of an 18-year-old was a clear warning sign.'
